Project Dilly's Den
Sometimes the toughest challenges yield the greatest rewards.
On just 6 days notice, Worx Media in partnership with Aurora Resin & SB Groundworks & Landscaping were asked to pull off the near impossible task of 100m² of Rubber EPDM... 8 stories up on a roof-top play ground for the Royal London’s Children Hospital in Central London. All at a cost of zero.
By day 2 an incredibly generous donor supplied the entire order of materials, by Day 4 the manpower was organised, Day 5 Disaster struck…. Rain.
Day 6 Worx Media, Aurora Resin & SB Groundworks departed West Yorkshire at 3am bound for London. After pulling off a 21hr shift all teams arrived safely back home & the play surface was down. Day 7, the grand opening of Dilly’s Den took place with the BBC & hundreds of attendees in tow.
The cause: This playground was arranged, supplied, built & commissioned all in the name of Dillian, a true soldier who sadly lost his battle with Leukaemia in The Royal London Children’s Hospital. He wanted nothing more than to play outside during his treatment and although it’s a bittersweet moment, due to the hard efforts of his mum Amy, any children facing a battle for their life will have an outdoor space to escape to.
